WINE PAIRINGS

Every menu at At Your Table begins with the region that inspired it. The wine should echo that story.
While we don’t offer bottles through the website just yet, these are the wines we reach for when cooking and tasting our Emilia-Romagna menu at home.

Lambrusco (Dry)

I first tried this local speciality at a Prosciutto di Parma producer, tasting a bright, fresh Lambrusco alongside the rich, silky meat. The pairing was unforgettable, everything was perfectly balanced.

That same harmony carries through our menu. Lambrusco’s crisp, lively character cuts beautifully through the sumptuous tigelle with Prosciutto di Parma and Parmigiano Reggiano, and through the richness of the tortelloni in broth. A classic regional match that deserves its place here.

Gutturnio (Barbera & Bonarda)

To follow, we recommend Gutturnio, a blend of Barbera and Bonarda. Barbera brings bright red fruit and acidity; Bonarda adds darker fruit, softness and a gentle earthy note. Together they create a pairing that works harmoniously with the steak, offering enough structure without overpowering it. The acidity also lifts the aged balsamic, keeping everything balanced and vibrant.

This wine carries into dessert. With Torta Barozzi, the rich chocolate deepens the wine, while the wine draws out the almond base of the cake. It’s an unusual pairing, but the two really celebrate each other.

Trebbiano (Dry White)

For those who prefer white wine, a dry Trebbiano from Emilia-Romagna is a beautiful choice. Fresh, clean and lightly aromatic, it sits beside the vegetarian main and roasted vegetables, and brings a brightness that works with the tortelloni in broth too. A balanced pairing for those who enjoy something lighter.

Where to Find These Wines

If you’re local to Cheshire, Knowles Green is a wonderful place to explore. Their shelves change with the seasons, and their team has brilliant knowledge for food and wine.

They recently welcomed a producer from Il Poggiarello, an Emilia-Romagna winery known for its rooted traditions and imaginative winemaking, for a wine tasting. A reminder of how closely they’re connected to the people behind their wines. Even if the exact bottles we mention aren’t available on the day, they’ll happily guide you to something that suits the menu beautifully.

If you’re further afield, your nearest independent wine shop will be able to guide you toward something similar. Look for wines from Emilia-Romagna or neighbouring regions, they naturally belong beside this food.
